Each year many individual Department employees, as well as entire work units, receive Davis Productivity awards for their outstanding performances. These awards recognize employees whose work significantly and measurably increases productivity and promotes innovation to improve the delivery of state services and to save money for Florida taxpayers and businesses. The Department of Elder Affairs actively participates in the Florida State Employees' Charitable Campaign (FSECC). Since 1992, the Department has received the Governor’s Award for Excellence eight times, the Gold Award for highest percentage of goal 11 times, the Gold Award for per capita donations six times, and numerous Silver and Bronze Awards.
In 2008, the Department received the Chairman’s Special Achievement Award for the Highest Percent Increase in Giving (43 percent). In 2010, the Department raised $20,455 in the Big Bend area and $22,721 statewide, far exceeding the goal of $15,793. The Department has received more Gold Awards for the percentage over goal and Governor’s Awards for Excellence than any other state agency in the same category. DOEA has also been nationally recognized in the communications and research fields. In the national 2013 Senior Living Awards, the Department was honored with the People's Choice award for Best Government and Education Site. The Department received two Mature Media Awards in 2006 and 2010, and the National Institute for Senior Centers (NISC) Research Award in 2008.
